Advantages of Dry Gas Seal

Higher Speed Operation

One of the key advantages of dry gas seals is their ability to operate at higher speeds than traditional mechanical seals. Because they do not come into direct contact with the rotating shaft, dry gas seals can effectively seal equipment that operates at speeds of up to 50,000 rpm or higher. This makes them a popular choice for high-speed machinery in the oil and gas, chemical, and power generation industries.

Preventing Process Gas Leaks

Another advantage of dry gas seals is their ability to prevent process gas leakage. The sealing faces of dry gas seals are designed to maintain a small but consistent gap, which prevents the escape of process gas from the equipment. This can be especially important in applications where process gas containment is critical, such as in the production of hazardous chemicals or in natural gas processing facilities.

Increased Reliability

Dry gas seals can withstand higher pressures, temperatures, and speed variations, making them suitable for demanding industrial applications. They are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, ensuring uninterrupted operation even in challenging environments.

Versatility and Adaptability

Dry gas seals offer versatility and adaptability, making them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Whether it's a compressor, pump, or turbine, dry gas seals can be customized to meet specific operational requirements. They can adapt to varying shaft sizes, speeds, and pressures, making them compatible with different equipment.

Environmental and Cost Benefits

Dry gas seals also have eco-friendly benefits, as they lower emissions and reduce environmental impact. Additionally, the decreased need for maintenance and replacement translates to cost savings.

Application of Dry Gas Seal

‌Chemical Industry‌: Dry gas seals are widely used in various equipment in the chemical industry, such as centrifugal pumps, reactors, filter presses, mixers, etc. These equipment require sealed media during operation, and dry gas seals can effectively prevent media leakage and contamination to ensure production safety.

‌Pharmaceutical Industry‌: In the pharmaceutical industry, dry gas seals are used to seal various pharmaceutical equipment to ensure the purity and safety of pharmaceutical production and avoid cross contamination.

‌petroleum And Natural Gas Industry‌: Dry gas seals are widely used in oil and natural gas extraction and transportation equipment, which can effectively prevent the leakage of harmful gases and ensure the safety of the working environment.

‌Power Industry‌: In the power industry, dry gas seals are used to seal equipment such as generators and turbines to ensure efficient operation and long-term stability of the equipment.

‌Metallurgical industry

Metallurgical equipment such as blast furnaces and converters also require dry gas seals to prevent high-temperature media leakage and protect the safety of equipment and operators.

‌Compressor

The application of dry gas seals in compressors is particularly significant, especially in turbine compressors. Dry gas seals can effectively prevent gas leakage and ensure the stable operation of the compressor‌.

‌Other application scenarios

Dry gas seals are also suitable for occasions involving toxic, dangerous, flammable, explosive and other media to ensure the safety of the production process and environmental protection‌.

Types of Dry Gas Seals

01

Single Seals

Single dry gas seals consist of a single seal face and are the simplest configuration. They are designed to handle moderate pressure differentials and are commonly used in applications where the sealed gas is clean and dry. Single seals are cost-effective and require minimal space, making them a popular choice for many industrial applications.

02

Double Seals

Double dry gas seals feature two seal faces arranged in series, providing an additional layer of protection against leakage. The space between the two seal faces is typically pressurized with a barrier gas, such as nitrogen, to prevent process gas from escaping to the atmosphere. Double seals are ideal for applications with higher pressure differentials or where increased reliability is required.

03

Tandem Seals

Tandem dry gas seals combine the benefits of single and double seals. They consist of two single seals mounted back-to-back, with a common stationary seal face between them. The space between the seals is vented to a flare or recovery system. Tandem seals provide the highest level of safety and reliability, making them suitable for critical applications or processes involving hazardous or toxic gases.

Maintenance During Dry Gas Seal Work

The dry gas seal rotates in one direction, and reverse rotation is absolutely prohibited. At the same time, it should be avoided when the speed is less than 5m/s Run at low speed for a long time. Both situations have the potential to damage the seal.

Ensure the flow of sealing gas is stable. Maintaining stable and uninterrupted sealing gas is a basic condition for the normal operation of dry gas seals. If the nitrogen pressure is insufficient, close attention should be paid; if the nitrogen bottle needs to be used, a dedicated person should monitor it at any time. control to ensure continuous supply of gas.

Avoid negative pressure operation of the seal. Back pressure will cause a substantial increase in leakage under static pressure conditions, and It will cause damage to the sealing face during operation.

Monitor changes in seal leakage at any time. Changes in leakage directly reflect the operating status of the dry gas seal. There are many factors that cause changes in leakage, such as fluctuations in process media, shaft channeling, surge, changes in pressure, temperature and speed, etc. As long as it does not continue to rise, the seal is considered to be operating normally; however, if the leakage amount is abnormal A continuously rising trend indicates a failure of the dry gas seal.

When the filter pressure difference reaches the alarm value, the filter should be switched in time and the filter element should be replaced.

When the unit is stopped, you must wait for the unit to completely stop running and stop the lubricating oil system for more than 10 minutes. Only then can the dry gas seal control system be turned off.

FAQ

Q: How long is your delivery time?

A: Generally it is 5-10 days if the goods are in stock. or it is 15-20 days if the goods are not in stock, it is according to quantity.

Q: Can I get an sample to check the quality of products?

A: Yes. We can send you samples to check the quality within 3-5days.

Q: What payment terms do you accept?

A: We accept T/T, Western Union, Paypal and Escrow, L/C, etc.

Q: Can you make customized products for us?

A: Yes. Customized products are available according to your drawings or working conditions.

Q: Could you design it if I don’t have drawings or pictures for custom products?

A: Yes,we can make the best suitable design in accordance with your application and working conditions.

Q: How does a dry gas seal work?

A: Dry gas seals use a separation seal on the bearing side of the seal as a barrier. The purpose of the barrier seal is to prevent lubricating oil from migrating along the shaft and into the dry gas seal. This seal also prevents any gas leakage from the dry gas seal from leaking into the bearing cavity.

Q: What is the difference between wet seal and dry gas seal?

A: Dry seals have less environmental impact compared to wet seals. Since there is no liquid barrier, there is no risk of barrier fluid leakage or disposal. Dry gas seals use an inert gas as the barrier which vents out to the atmosphere.

Q: What is the separation gas in a dry gas seal?

A: Separation gas (normally nitrogen or air) is injected between the two segmented bushings, effectively creating a pressure barrier between the bearing and dry gas seal cavity.

Q: What is the leak rate of dry gas seals?

A: During normal operation, dry seals leak at a rate of 0.5 to 3 scfm across each seal (1 to 6 scfm for a two seal system), depending on the size of the seal and operating pressure.

Q: What is the life of a dry gas seal?

A: By having the correct conditions and flow of gas, the dry gas seal can separate for operations and, by ensuring that seal faces are not making contact, allow dry gas seals to have a long operational life (approximately 10 years).
