Most wastewater-side seal failures are not caused by product quality defects, but by mismatched material selection and poor on-site operating habits.
Wastewater usually contains invisible fine suspended particles and micro-abrasives. If standard carbon graphite faces are adopted without wear-resistant upgrading, continuous particle friction will gradually polish the sealing interface, leading to slow leakage after short-term operation.
Apart from fine abrasives, medium sediment accumulation and intermittent dry running are two dominant failure triggers in wastewater systems. Sediment sticking on the seal face breaks the lubrication film, while occasional dry running creates instant high temperature, causing elastomer aging and facial thermal wear.
For long-term wastewater service, upgrading to silicon carbide friction faces and avoiding dry-running conditions can greatly extend the service life of the eMG1 Elastomer Bellows Mechanical Seal.
